I’ve been watching these videos for a few months now. They’re made by a guy from Edmonton named Alex who runs an antique store, posted on his YouTube channel Curiosity Inc.   The first one popped up in my YouTube recommendations back in February, and I’ve been watching each new one ever since. While they don’t necessarily find a huge amount of money , what they do find is really interesting and I learned about an artist I would have probably never heard of otherwise.

I watched the first four or five episodes and was hooked. I need to continue watching this series. He only paid $20K CAD for that whole house, and some of the individual pieces of pottery have sold for $5K each. I was glad to hear that he agreed to split the results of the sale of more of the pots with the family, especially since the hoarder that lived there is actually still alive. Regardless, he’s probably going to make a fortune on that place even figuring in the labor needed to clean and restore it.

Like you, I was unfamiliar with the artist and did do a little research on her. My mom is a potter, so ceramics is something that I am interested in given her love for talking about the craft.

Sadly, Mary (the former owner of the house) passed away 1-2 months ago, but I agree it was nice of him to share the profits. Truly a good guy

He’s Canadian, so it's kind of expected...

That painting that the guy made based on the picture of her holding a piece of pottery that she made was absolutely stunning.

It’s totally worth it. The transformation of the house is unbelievable. And it probably would have been condemned and torn down if he had n’t bought it.

He also has some excellent junkyard series where he looks at/buys old cars.

Are you watching any of the Roadkill stuff?

I’ve seen a couple of them, but not many. I kinda lost interest tbh. I should revisit it though.

It gets interesting when they learn more about the woman who owned the house. It becomes more of a personal thing, and the renovation really ends up being a labor of love. Really great series of videos.

For holding my interest, I give Roadkill 7/10, Hot Rod Garage and Roadkill Garage more like 9/10. I wish it were easier to learn how much the stuff costs that they use. HR Garage is much better about that. Steve Dulcich is my favorite personality of the lot. Interesting to me is how their big events seem to all be in the Midwest, even though Motor Trend is based in LA.

Are you referring to the episode that begins with the old Buick ambulance running out of gas?
